You can always reach out to your Trustee for help and we will always be here to support as we’re able, but please note Trustees are unable to intervene in matters of operations. The following chart is a guide for the best steps for resolving concerns. The Trustee role is defined by the Province of Ontario through the Education Act and through the Peel District School Board’s by-laws. This role is primarily a local voice in governance. • Your Trustee may help connect you with appropriate members of staff and escalate concerns to appropriate members of staff.
• Your Trustee may be able to provide you with information to help navigate a challenge.
• Your Trustee can help with matters of policy and governance.
Your Trustee can’t direct members of staff.
Your Trustee does not have authority over matters of Human Resources.
Trustees participate in discipline hearings but must recuse themselves if they may have a conflict of interest or be perceived to be in conflict.
